ANGLING: BATHAMPTON Angling Association's stretch of the Avon at Newbridge, near Bath, usually comes into its own at this time of year and this autumn is no different judging by recent results.
Pleasure anglers and matchmen alike have been getting excellent sport with quality big roach and bream the order of the day.
Roach of over 1lb are plentiful with the occasional 2lb specimen being caught. Team Bathampton's Lee Trivett weighed in a beautiful 2lb roach in a recent Winter League match.
Bream to seven pounds are plentiful, coming throughout to groundbait feeder and worm and caster cocktail. Anyone seeking a change from the all dominant carp waters is well advised to try Newbridge and experience top class river fishing.
There is plenty of room and fish are being caught from many different swims on a wide diversity of baits. If you want to test your angling skill there is nowhere better to go.
