Bracknell 25, Chippenham 12
CHIPPENHAM'S tale of woe continues and they now face a real fight to turn their league season around.
After a string of defeats, this was a must win game. Both teams are languishing near the bottom of the table and so both were after all three points to improve their position.
But the game plan went astray and for coach Rob Alford, the result was disappointing.
He said: "Ill discipline cost us this game. With two minutes to go to the half-time whistle and with an 8-12 lead, we were comfortable. But we gave away a needless penalty and lost a player to the sin-bin for the offence. Bracknell scored 15 points in the first ten minutes of the second half and that was it."
Chippenham started well and Andy Williamson finished off five phases of play to open the scoring. He also added the conversion. Gary Champion soon added an unconverted try after slicing through the middle. Bracknell hit back with an unconverted try before Chippenham prop Pete Kirby was penalised for handling the ball on the ground and was sent to the sin-bin.
With a man advantage at the start of the second half Bracknell ran in two tries, one converted and then put the game beyond Chippenham with a third try.
For Alford the sin-binning of Kirby was the turning point of the game.
He said; The result was absolutely just.
"But the penalty offence for handling the ball on the ground when Bracknell had clearly won the ball, especially in front of the ref was sheer stupidity. We were on the back foot for the rest of the game, having to play catch-up rugby."

CHIPPENHAM'S second team bounced back from last week's crushing defeat against Dings Crusader with their own demolition job at Allington Field.
With the previous week's defeat fresh in their minds, Chippenham came out for this match with the intention of grinding out a home win.
But after several minutes of play, Chippenham began to gel together and play some good rugby.
Their first points came within five minutes of the start and after that, Chippenham continued to score, never losing their rhythm for the rest of the game.
The tries came from Jenkins (2), Barnes (2), Angell (2), Dunford (2), Rigby, Reynolds and Shuker. Hunt kicked seven conversions.

DESPITE the heavy defeat, this was an improvement on last week's performance from Chippenham.
Liam Snape scored Chippenham's try.
