PLAISTER AUTOS WILTS LEAGUE

THE form book took a bit of a hammering in the Wiltshire League, with Purton Reserves leading the way with a 2-0 win over New College in the second round of the Corsham Print Senior Cup.

A goal-less first half looked imminent until a speculative long range effort from Ryan Keetch sailed over the keeper to give Purton an interval lead.

The home side pushed forward after the break, but some indifferent finishing and some good stops by the visitors' keeper made sure there were no further goals until Purton's John Horgan broke away in the last minutes to score a second and make sure of victory.

Westside, languishing near the foot of the table, sprang to life with 3-0 win over visitors AFC Trowbridge Youth.

Wroughton, going well in the section, were surprisingly beaten 3-0 at home by Melksham Town Reserves, all the goals coming in the second half.

Blueprint Chiseldon fought hard at Corsham Town Reserves, but the league leaders ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Liam Ralph, Ryan Bush and an own goal.

In Division One, Stratton Rovers were beaten 5-4 by Abbey Rodbourne despite being 3-1 up at one stage. Abbey fought back to level the scores at 4-4 then scored the winner in the last minute.

Blunsdon United did well to defeat AFC Stratton 3-2 with a penalty from Paul Braithwaite, John Sullivan and Danny Pearson also finding the net. Rick Casey scored both for Stratton.

AFC Castrol moved into second following their 3-0 win over Castle Combe, Gary Donnelly, Seth Palmer and Dave Gee the scorers.

Leaders Pinehurst OB dropped a couple of points when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Biddestone. Shane Dodson and Joe Fitchett scored for the home side.

Aldbourne, under caretaker boss Stef Kuczynski, had a good day at the office, beating Minety 3-2 with goals from Lee Ashby, Andy Lyneham and Dave Glover with Will Wood and Andy Mitchell on target for the visitors.

AFC Rodbourne were the day's highest scorers, beating Blyskawica 8-2. Steve Winchcombe and Kevin Murphy both completed hat-tricks and Adam Fleger added two more.

Dan Wright and Ashley Chapman struck for Westlecott to give them a 2-1 win over Barron Heating and their Reserve side in Division Two picked up a point in a 2-2 draw with Dynamo CDR, Byron Sutton and Dean Griffiths on target.

CHQ lost their 100 per cent record when they were held to a 4-4 draw by FC Chippenham.
