WARMINSTER Sports Centre has given local charity supporter Nicola Noble a headstart with preparations for her latest fundraising challenge of running next year's Flora London Marathon by presenting her with a full six month complementary membership.

Noble, who is running the marathon to raise funds for cancer services at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath, through The Forever Friends Appeal, will be using the facilities at the centre as part of her training.

The London Marathon is the latest in a series of fundraising events that Noble from Warminster has taken on since her sister, Vanessa Kyte, was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago.

Under the banner of Pink Positive, the sisters have participated in an 85 mile walk around the RUH's catchment area, half marathons, a wingwalk and a spectacular ball. To date, the sisters have raised over £80,000 for various local charities.

Noble said: "I'm really looking forward to running the marathon in April 2007, but there's a lot of training to get through first.

"I've been lucky enough to gain a place in the race through The Forever Friends Appeal, which has been granted a silver bond place for the first time ever this year. I'm determined to take part for my sister, Vanessa, making every step count and raising as much as possible towards cancer services at the RUH. Both myself and the Appeal are thrilled with this early pledge of support."

Lee Carpenter, general manager at Warminster Sports Centre, said: "We're delighted to be able to help Nicola with her training, especially as she is running for such a great cause. Cancer sadly affects many people's lives and therefore, Nicola's goal of raising funds that will directly benefit local patients, is one that we are proud to support."
