THE Winsley-based St Andrews football club has been awarded £400 in funding by Bath company, Eduserv.

The money is to go towards club development and an outreach programme to attract and retain young players.

The club already coaches players from age five upwards and is keen to increase the number of young members by setting up a football nursery.

The club is actively involved in fostering links with local primary schools in the Bradford on Avon and Winsley areas to recruit young players and also has a tie-in with the Maltese Football Academy. This tie-in means that the club has hosted a friendly tournament between the two clubs and is hoping to take its players out to Malta in the near future.

Eduserv became involved in the project because club player and committee member Ed Zedlewski works for the company.

Eduserv has recently set up a CSR campaign called the Social Initiatives Fund, launched to support staff involvement in projects that benefit the local community. Zedlewski received funding for St Andrews Football Club following an application to the fund.

Eduserv is a not-for-profit IT services group delivering innovative technology services predominantly to the public sector.
