Somerset Gryphons A 1, Chippenham 8

CHIPPENHAM coasted to victory against newly promoted Somerset Gryphons.

Henry Price put the visitors in front after five minutes when he seized on a loose ball in the D. The same player made it 2-0 minutes later with a neat finish from a rebounded short corner.

Cameron Main then used his pace to round two defenders before slotting the ball past the Gryphons goalkeeper.

Main then turned provider as his short corner allowed Morris to flick the ball home.

Price completed his hat-trick, Chippenham's fifth, with another shot from a short corner. He added a fourth with a skillful reverse flick to open up a six-goal lead.

Chippenham failed to recreate their form of the first period after the interval, but they did score twice more through Thomas and Price Gryphons grabbed a late consolation goal to take the gloss off another fine performance by Chippenham, who face an unbeaten West Wilts side tomorrow.

Man-of-the-match was Cameron Main.

Swindon A 1, Chippenham A 2

CHIPPENHAM A got back to winning ways with a fine victory against rivals Swindon A.

Jones gave Chippenham a half-time lead with a reverse flick into the bottom corner.

Hosts Swindon piled on the pressure after the break to equalise with a well-worked goal.

With time ticking away, Chippenham were awarded a short corner. The initial shot was blocked on the line by a defender's foot and Knight stepped up to convert the resulting penalty flick.

Man-of-the-match was Damian Heartford.

Chippenham 3rds 2, West Wilts D 2

THE men's third team snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat when they came from two goals down with five minutes to play.

West Wilts profited from a short corner to take a one-goal lead into the break. The visitors doubled their advantage with a swift counter attack midway through the second half.

Chippenham had already rattled the woodwork before Matt Hunt gave the home side hope with five minutes to play.

Hunt rescued a point three minutes later with an identical strike from a short corner.

Man-of-the-match was Matt Hunt.

Chippenham C 0, Wootton Bassett 1

WOOTTON Bassett emerged 1-0 victors in an entertaining derby match.

Chippenham fought hard to get back into the game, they just could not put the ball away.

Portishead Ladies 2, Chippenham Ladies 0

CHIPPENHAM Ladies are still searching for their first win of the season, despite a promising performance in Portishead.

Playing in a new formation, it took the Chippenham players until midway through the first half to find their feet.

Laura Carey and Sue Hopkins combined well in midfield, but they could do nothing to prevent Portishead's opening goal.

Chippenham came out strong for the second half but despite some excellent link-up play between Helen Dolman, Jules Batch and Becky Roberts, they could not find a way to score.

Portishead skillfully turned defence into attack and added a second goal against the run of play.

Swindon Ladies 2nds 2, Chippenham Ladies 2nds 2

A CRUCIAL league point was gained thanks to a late equaliser from Mary Derrick.

Derrick had given Chippenham the lead from a short corner early in the first period, but Swindon hit back with two goals.

The visitors refused to lie down and after some excellent defending from Helen Lock and Alice Hopper, Derrick earned her side a share of the spoils

West Wilts Ladies 3rds 0, Chippenham Ladies 3rds 4

CHIPPENHAM eased to a 4-0 win thanks to a well-taken brace from Leigh Page.

Amy Kirk and Sarah Hamilton also got on the scoresheet as the visitors dominated from start to finish.

Ellie Copeland also had a goal disallowed in the second half.

Devizes Ladies 5, Chippenham Ladies 4ths 0

RIVALS Devizes proved too strong for the Chippenham fourth string, despite being three players short.

Chippenham goalkeeper Gaynor Spurway made some fine saves to keep the scoreline respectable. She was ably assisted by the defensive duo of Ros Selman and Katie Roberts.

Phillipa Armstrong played well on debut.
