Melksham Town 5, Keynsham Town 0

KELVIN Highmore can now listen to his iPod in peace after watching his resurgent side stroll to their second victory in three days.

The Melksham manager flies to Crete on Tuesday for a relaxing holiday which is sure to include sun, sea and Slade - his favourite rock band.

Last week Highmore was on the verge of quitting the club after a dismal start to the season, but seven points from nine and three clean sheets has lifted the gloom over the Conigre.

Monday's 5-0 demolition of basement side Keynsham followed a shock 4-0 victory over Willand on Saturday to leave Highmore in high spirits.

He said: "I got the reaction I wanted from the players. The chairman also had a word with them and I think that helped.

"I wore my lucky shirt against Welton last Monday and we've played much better since then. On the evidence of the last three days I don't think I'm ever going to change it again."

Luke Ballinger fired Melksham in front on Monday when he lobbed Gary Cripps in the Keynsham goal from 25 yards.

The exciting Ben Thomson made it 2-0 after 26 minutes with a powerful left-foot strike which fizzed across Cripps into the bottom corner.

Adam Young put the hosts further ahead on the stroke of half-time when he profited from a mistake by Cripps to side-foot home from close range.

Mike Perrott got the goal his performance deserved after 72 minutes when he dived to head Tim Eatough's free kick beyond Cripps.

The Keynsham stopper was beaten again nine minutes later when Ballinger bundled the ball home after Perrott had struck a post.
