TOOLSTATION LEAGUE:

Calne Town 3, Marlborough Town 0

ROBBIE Lardner says his squad must get back to basics if they want to emulate the success of last season.

The Bremhill View boss watched his side record a comfortable win over Marlborough on Saturday to set up a home tie with Wootton Bassett in the next round.

But Lardner believes his Lilywhites must show more consistency to mount a genuine challenge for silverware.

He said: "We've been making life difficult for ourselves this season. In training last week we put the balls away and did some hard work.

"It's the Robbie Lardner recipe for football: Keep fit, and the rest will take care of itself."

Owen Bryan gave Calne the best possible start on Saturday when he scored after just 60 seconds.

Glenn Armstrong's drive rebounded off the post and Bryan arrived on cue to stroke the ball home.

Ben Moore doubled the home side's advantage midway through the half after a neat interchange between Bryan and Luke Gullick.

The on-loan Tom Etheridge capped a fine display with a curling free-kick which should have been saved by the Marlborough 'keeper.

Calne took to the field without midfielder Gary Banks, who sealed his switch to Biddestone this week.

Lardner said he was disappointed to see Banks leave, but wished him every success at Yatton Road.

"It was sad because I've known Gary since he was very young. He's an excellent player who will be a great asset to Biddestone," he said.
