TOOLSTATION LEAGUE:

Bradford Town 1, Highworth Town 3

MARK Hodkinson blamed the officials for his side's Wilts Senior Cup exit on Saturday as Highworth came from behind to beat Bradford at Trowbridge Road.

Steve Roddy fired Bradford in front with a brilliant curling shot after two minutes, but the home side's joy was short-lived.

A hotly-contested penalty and a goal which Hodkinson claims was "yards offside" gave the Hellenic League outfit a 2-1 lead at the break.

Highworth netted a third in the second period to send battling Bradford crashing out.

Hodkinson said: "I hate blaming officials but those two decisions probably cost us the game. I'm not sure what they were thinking about.

"I don't think it was a penalty. Our goalkeeper has kicked the ball and then collided with the attacker.

"As for the offside, even the Highworth bench knew they were fortunate to get that goal.

"The lads were so deflated to come in 2-1 down. They battled hard after the break but things are just not going our way at the moment."

Former Swindon Town striker Lance Lewis scored the two Highworth goals from open play, with the penalty coming from Wayne Cleverley.

It was almost an embarrassing afternoon for Highworth boss John Fisher, who promised to quit if his team lost.

Fisher did not realise Bradford played in the Toolstation League, mistaking them for Bradford Reserves in the Wiltshire League.
