TROWBRIDGE sprinter Danny Talbot clocked 20.71 for the 200m when finishing fourth at an international meeting in Slovenia last night.
In his first outdoor engagement since last month's British Universities & Colleges Championships, Birchfield Harrier Talbot, 21, won his heat in Velenje in the same time.
That was outside the both the Olympic A (20.55) and B (20.65) qualifying standards and the eighth fastest run by a British athlete this year.
Talbot also went in the 100m and won the final in 10.24, the Olympic qualifying B standard.
The Wiltshire athlete said on Twitter: "Little disappointed but fairly pleasing for my season opener.''
Talbot will now prepare for the Olympic Trials which get underway in Birmingham next Friday.
