City of Bath Veterans 1, West Wilts Veterans 7

WEST Wilts Veterans eased through to the next round of the HA Veterans (over 40) Cup with an emphatic win over their near neighbours.

The first half gave little indication of the rout which was to follow, with both sides showing a willingness to attack in numbers and giving the respective defences a hard time.

Alan Kilminster gave West Wilts the lead and other goals followed from Dave Cooper (2), Rich Robson, Charles Budgett (2) and Jonathan Cockroft.

Swansea Bay 3, West Wilts 3

WEST Wilts kept their unbeaten record but were disappointed to return home with just one point.

West Wilts started strongly with great build-up play leading to a superb goal from Dave Jeffreys, hitting the ball from the top of the D and sending it to the top right corner of the goal.

Swansea equalised after West Wilts stopped for a blatant foul. West Wilts shook off the shocking decision and straight away won a penalty flick.

Stuart Brailey stepped up to take it, but was unlucky as the Swansea keeper tipped the ball over the bar.

Swansea took the lead for the first time, but it was all square again at half-time with Dan Sheppard on target.

Dave Jeffreys put West Wilts ahead after the break but Swansea had another lucky break when a 50 yard pass was collected by an unmarked player to equalise.

West Wilts 2nds 4. Devizes 2nds 1

WEST Wilts came from a goal down to sink a Devizes 2nds team that had not lost a league game for over a year.

Devizes broke the deadlock when West Wilts failed to clear a short corner and the ball was pushed home from close range.

West Wilts were level within five minutes when Rob Robson deflected a strike from Dave Cooper past a helpless Devizes goalkeeper.

Dave Cooper put West Wilts ahead early in the second half and as Devizes began to lose their formation and their cool that resulted in two yellow cards and a number of exchanges with the umpires. West Wilts maintained their focus, with Cooper completing his hat-trick.

City of Bath 4ths 0, West Wilts 4ths 5

IN a game of two halves West Wilts turned in a shapeless, hit-and-miss first half performance, and their 1-0 interval advantage was barely deserved.

But a scintillating second half performance blew away local rivals Bath with four more goals as West Wilts recorded their second successive league victory and a second successive clean sheet.

The goals came from Kevin Murphy (2) Alan Kilminster (2), one from a fierce short corner strike that deflected high into the roof off a net defender's stick, and Jonathan Cockroft.

West Wilts 5ths 2, Bath Buccs 10ths 3

WEST Wilts let a 1-0 lead slip away as they slipped to a narrow defeat.

Dan Taylor and Tim Nott scored for West Wilts.

Pucklechurch Ladies 1, West Wilts Ladies 2nds 3

A SOLID team performance resulted in a good win for West Wilts.

With a regular team line-up now in place, West Wilts got off to a strong start with majority possession and quickly pressured the Pucklechurch circle. Despite some careless tackles, Pucklechurch defended well and Wilts were unable to break through.

Wilts worked well together to ensure the play remained in the Pucklechurch half, with Emily Church displaying some great play which prevented Pucklechurch seeing much of the ball.

Fiona Pridham put West Wilts ahead at half-time and Sally Winter and Pridham added second half goals.

West Wilts Ladies 3rds 4, North Wilts Ladies 3

AFTER a stuttering start to the season, the 3rds came away with their first victory - but the margin of victory could have been so much larger.

The first goal came in the eighth minute, when Nicci Foster connected cleanly with a firm Nicki Strong cross.

Within minutes West Wilts were two up, Holly Brown scrambling the ball across the line. Faye Johnson and Maria Warren added further goals in the second half.
