COLIN Lewis of Bradford News has been presented with the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News-sponsored Team of the Week award for October 8, 2006.
Lewis, the long serving secretary and now manager of the newsmen, collected the award on behalf of the Premier Division club.
Bradford News beat off opposition from Second Division FC Bradford and Third Division Chippenham United RAOB to win the award after hitting back from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw with Westbury Rangers A, who were bidding for a fourth straight victory in the Premier Division.
Rangers dominated the first half and should have had more than Tim Coombes' goal to show for their superiority. When Marc Lanfear added a second for Rangers it looked as if the newsmen were about to suffer a fifth successive defeat.
But Bradford News had other ideas and turned the form book on its head as Tom Downing gave them a lifeline and Jason Povey headed home to tie the game and earn Bradford their first point of the season.
