TROWBRIDGE Town manager Paul Shanley has welcomed the news that plans for the club's proposed new stadium are expected to be submitted next month.

Shanley has made no secret of the fact that many players who signed during the summer did so on the understanding they would be playing at a new ground in the near future.

Shanley said: "This has given us a big incentive to keep things going on the pitch. It's what everyone wanted to hear.

"The players have been asking me what's going on with the new ground and now we can see something is happening."

The original plans have been scaled down to suit the immediate needs of the club, the present leaders of the Hellenic League Division One West.

The proposed 4,500 capacity stadium on land opposite the club's current Woodmarsh site will now hold no more than 2,500 spectators.

Plans to build an IT suite, health spa and dance studio in the main stand have also been shelved.
