FOR 90 minutes, this match had 0-0 written all over it and only two goals in two minutes in injury time, provided some excitement to what was a very dour encounter.

The first half saw Frome struggle to get any pattern in their game and the most initiative came from the right wing as Kris Miller and Ricky Hulbert took it in turns to attack left back Nikki Beale.

A foul by Beale on the edge of the box led a free kick in the 12th, and Mike Perrott went close as he flicked on, but nobody got a touch and the ball shaved the far post.

Miller brought a sharp save from Hemel keeper Nick Bussey in the 25th minute as drove strongly into the box and shot from close range.

Then a long range screamer from Josh Scowan just cleared the Frome bar a minute later.

Frome’s Tom Evans was a little fortunate to only receive a yellow card and a strong talking to after a high challenge on Marquin Smith, but with little else of note, the score remained goalless at half time.

The second half saw Frome attempt to take the game to the visitors, and a Perrott volley from outside the box went just wide in the 48th minute.

Then Ryan Bennett managed to put the ball wide from two yards out as the ball was driven in low and hard following a corner.

A Perrott from a free kick seemed to have broken the deadlock in the 69th minute, but a good headed goal line clearance robbed him of his first goal of the season.

Substitute Twaine Plummer should have buried a low cross from Luke Balllinger in the 76th minute, but then Darren Chitty had to save with his legs a minute later as the visitors counter attacked immediately.

After 90 minutes, there was no score, but Frome took the lead in the 91st as Tom Evans had two chances to cross from the left, and the second was a beauty, curled in with pace and a header from distance found the far corner of the net, with Ryan Bennett credited with the goal.

That should have been it, but unbelievably, the lead was cancelled out a minute later as a defensive error led to Hemel Hempstead’s Lewis Toomey pulling the ball back from the dead ball line for Ross Lafayette to head home at the near post and give the visitors a point with their only real chance of the game.
