PAUL Shanley agreed with the referee’s decision to abandon his side’s clash with Gillingham Town on Tuesday night due to fog.

Bradford were drawing 3-3 in a high-scoring clash, but with visibility deteriorating in Dorset the game was brought to a premature end in the 59th minute.

“I think that the referee made the right decision and about 10 minutes after the finish the fog really started to come down,” said Shanley.

“The game was really end-to-end and we conceded a few goals from set pieces, which we don’t normally do, but that’s all immaterial now.

“I think that if either side had scored again, then it would have been very hard for the referee to call the game off, because then you’d have had one side who’d have really wanted it and one that didn’t.”

Matty Cooper, Lee Burke and Jamie Jordan had all netted for Bradford.

On Saturday, Shanley’s men were knocked out of the FA Vase by Toolstation League Premier Division outfit Bishop Sutton.

Jonny Moss put the hosts ahead before Pete Sheppard doubled their lead after half-time.

Jake Hiscocks reduced the deficit in the final 10 minutes.

Striker Cooper, Dan Shanley and Sam Jordan all miss tomorrow’s trip to Oldland Abbotonians.
