SAM Gooding thinks that two controversial decisions robbed his Westbury United side of a result against high-flying Elmore last weekend.
United’s Simon Millard rounded the Elmore keeper in the first-half but despite appearing to be clipped, the referee waved away the visitors’ claims fora penalty.
Then, with Westbury a goal down, Dave Whyte was adjudged to have conceded a penalty with a last-ditch challenge on an Elmore attacker, despite the nearby linesman signalling for a corner.
“The referee came to us during the game and said that he’s made a mistake and there wasn’t much else he could do about it,” said Gooding.
“We deserved a draw at least and that’s the first time that poor decisions have cost us a game instead of our own mistakes. Hopefully it’s the last time.”
