FROME Town manager Darren Perrin is hoping that his strikers can start to find their shooting boots after admitting that he has concerns over his side’s lack of goals in the wake of their FA Trophy exit last weekend.

Tom Melledew’s spectacular long-range strike early in th second-half saw Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West outfit Thatcham Town spring an upset at Badgers Hill.

As Frome battled for an equaliser, Matt Smith was red-carded for a last ditch challenge on Shane Kingston. Shortly afterwards midfielder Dean Evans also saw red for his part in a melee near the corner flag, which ensued after Thatcham attempted to run down the clock.

“It’s a disappointing result because we should have been out of sight,” said Perrin.

“We missed one-on-one chances and hit the post but I do think that I’ve got a concern regarding my strikers.

“It’s something that I’ve got to analyse and do something about because I definitely think that the goals are there in the strikers that I’ve got.”

Ricky Hulbert made his comeback from injury from the bench in Saturday’s defeat and could be back leading the Frome line when they host second-from-bottom Hemel Hempstead Town in the Southern Premier Division tomorrow.

But Robins boss Perrin is wary of the impact of new Tudors manager Tommy Wriddington.

He added: “I know a lot about Tommy from when I was at Chippenham and he was at Salisbury and he can attract some good players. But I’m confident I’ll get a response from my players.”
