CORSHAM Town are hoping to welcome a host of old faces back to Southbank this weekend as they celebrate their 500th game in the Western League.
Trevor Rawlings’ side take on Street this Saturday and the club is offering free entry to all former players, managers and staff as they mark a landmark day in Corsham’s Western League history.
“It’s a bit of a momentous occasion for us because we’re such a small club and probably the smallest one in the Premier Division of the league,” said Corsham secretary Richard Taylor.
“Getting into the Western League in 1998 was a great achievement at the time and we’ve had some great successes since then, especially when we won the league and were probably punching above our weight.
“The club has come a long way and some people will remember when we didn’t even have a stand – we’ve now got a 120-seater, disability areas and the clubhouse has come on massively.
“We get great support from the local area and sometimes when we go to away games, we bring more supporters than the home side.
“We’ve been trying to contact as many ex-Corsham people as we can and hopefully they’ll come down to the ground on Saturday.”
