TREVOR Rawlings felt Wells striker Steve Murray was the difference as Corsham slipped to their second league defeat in three days on Tuesday evening.
Murray scored twice for City as they leapfrogged the Wiltshire men, who now sit at the foot of the Toolstation Premier Division table.
Rawlings said: “Without him, (Murray) I didn’t think there was a lot there from them.
“He’s played for Frome and he was the difference between us really.’’ Corsham grabbed the lead through Matty Jenkins in the first half but Wells, for whom Matt Hurley also netted, levelled before half time.
The hosts regained the lead in the second period and, as Corsham pushed forward and Aaron Ledgister was denied a penalty, they were caught on the break.
Rawlings, who has seven-day approaches in on players from Westbury United and Bradford Town, admitted he was more upset by Saturday’s 1-0 home reverse to Radstock.
Keeper Scott Windle saved a penalty, but the manager said: “We didn’t do the things we had been doing in previous games and we looked a bit clueless really.’’
The absent Ledgister misses out on tomorrow’s league trip to Longwell Green Sports.
