NORTH WILTS Ladies made a fine start in the 2011/12 national competitions in the Masons Trophy, writes DAVE EATON.
They took the honours on both rinks in the Over 60s Double Rinks competition as they stormed to a 52-21 win over Bristol.
But at 10 ends across the board North Wilts were 16-11 down and only winning on one rink. However, they then turned the screw.
Isabel Dawson’s rink, who always led, moved from 9-8 up to go 18-10 clear at 15 and never dropped another shot to record a very healthy 27-10 victory.
Alongside, Jean Collier’s quartet enjoyed a great second-half fightback. They came from 8-2 down at ten ends to lead 16-9 at 15 and finally win at 21 ends by the comfortable margin of 25-11.
