MARLBOROUGH Town, looking to build on their Wilts Senior Cup victory at Cricklade last weekend, were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Shrewton in the Premier Division.

Steve Dean put the Town ahead early in the game and they should have doubled the score when Tom Mildenhall missed from the penalty spot 10 minutes later.

The visitors then fought back well and a stunning free kick from Matt Jackson levelled the scores just before the break.

Honours remained fairly even after the break, neither side able to dictate the play and having to settle for a share of the points.

Purton Reserves did well to come away from Calne with three points, the Red House side scoring twice in the second half courtesy of goals from Dean O’Hagan and Terry Dearing.

Purton boss Albert Dearing was delighted with his side's recent good run, saying: “It was a very good all round performance and we are beginning to take our chances at last.”

Swindon side Southbrook, desperately looking for a change in their fortunes, were beaten 4-1 at Devizes, the home side scoring three second-half goals.

Jack Fisher opened the scoring early in the game for the home side they then had to wait until 10 minutes into the second half when Danny Baker found the net with a 20-yard volley followed by a strike from Craig Townsend and another from Baker.

“That was a much better performance,” said Devizes boss Jamie Bayes.

“I was critical of last weeks effort, but they turned it round well.”

Blyskawica had three points in their sights against Amesbury leading 2-1 with the game into injury time.

However, their keeper Richard Bolt brought down an Amesbury forward in the box and the visitors snatched a point from the penalty spot.

Earlier Tom Kopinski and Jeremy Newton were on target for the home side.

Wroughton and FC Chippenham Youth fought out a no score draw, neither side really looked like breaking the deadlock.

In the first round of the Corsham Print Senior Cup, a lively first half at Pewsey saw visitors FC Sanford go in at the break with a 5-3 lead after the home side had taken a 2-1 lead early in the game.

The second half however belonged to the Swindon side who scored six times to run out 11-3 winners.
