DEVIZES Town picked up their third draw in four league matches as Steve Burns was unable to mark his first match in caretaker charge at Melksham with a victory.
The visitors improved from the previous week's 4-0 Wiltshire Senior Cup thrashing at the same venue in a match watched by a crowd of 270.
James Packer went close for Devizes early on before Gary Higdon failed to get a full connection on a Josh Robinson cross for the home side.
Devizes grabbed the lead just after the quarter of an hour mark when Adam Heath headed home.
Higdon almost levelled for the home side when his shot hit a post, then saw his header saved.
Melksham created further chances an finally drew levelled just before half time when Matt Cooper headed a free kick back across and Dave Thompson bagged his third goal in three matches.
The home side had the better of the chances after half time, but failed to snatch the winner, Dan Kovacs going closest when he was denied from close range.
