TROWBRIDGE Town manager Paul Blake was encouraged by the impact his new faces made in last weekend’s Wiltshire Senior Cup clash with Wiltshire League outfit FC Sanford, despite the Bees slipping to a 5-2 defeat at Woodmarsh.
New boy Shaun Fordham and Richard Hudson were on target for Trowbridge but braces from Matt Bennet and Devon Bryan and a further strike from Jamie McGhey saw the Swindon-based visitors through to the second round.
Emilio Menghini and Nick James also made their Trowbridge debuts.
“I asked the lads afterwards if it felt like a 5-2 defeat and they all said ‘no’,” said Blake.
“It was a competitive game and Sanford deserve their dues for being clinical but I was really happy with the new lads and the quality they brought in.
“They’re a bit more streetwise and they should help the other boys raise their game.”
Trowbridge aren’t in action tomorrow and boss Blake added: “I’m actually gutted because the momentum has started to change.”
