TREVOR Rawlings says that the buzz is back at Corsham Town after they claimed their third straight victory last weekend in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

Aaron Ledgister’s hat-trick saw Corsham beat Wessex League outfit Laverstock & Ford and set up a second round tie with Pewsey Vale.

“We were totally dominant in the first half and there’s a buzz about the place again,” said Southbank boss Rawlings.

“It’s nice to get the chance to play the other local sides in a competition and hopefully we can put things right when we play Pewsey again because I don’t think we did ourselves proud last time (a 2-0 first qualifying round replay loss in the FA Vase last month)”.

Ledgister netted in the first half before turning provider for Liam Brown to make it 2-0.

After the visitors hit back, Ledgister fired home from the penalty spot before curling home a left-footed free-kick in the second half.

Corsham did play more than half of the second period with 10 men after Matt Windle picked up two bookings but Laverstock could only manage a solitary consolation goal.

The Southbank side maintained the upturn in their fortunes with another precious league point at home to high-flying Bristol side Hallen on Wednesday.

Substitute Adam Taylor netted for Rawlings’ men in the final five minutes a 1-1 home draw.

Rawlings added: “In the first half we were poor and it was back to the bad old ways a little bit.

“We made a stupid mistake for their goal, but a few words were said at half time and we were much the better side in the second half.

“Their keeper had to make two or three good saves, but were finally got the goal we needed near the end.’’
