DARREN Perrin hopes to add vital cash clout to Frome’s race to upgrade their Aldersmith Stadium with success in the FA Trophy next week.
The Robins must raise the £20,000 needed to build a new 250-seat stand by next March, with relegation from the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division looming if they fail.
While appeals have gone out for local support, Perrin’s side host Thatcham in FA Trophy first round qualifying tomorrow week, where the £2,200 in prize money at stake would prove useful.
Perrin, who saw Matt Smith’s goal down local rivals Paulton to book a Somerset Premier Cup second round tie with Wells City, said: “If we could win against Thatcham that would help the club.
“I know the board are moving on with the planning permission for the stand but we’ve also got to raise the money or face automatic relegation.’’
Two Josh Brigham penalties and a Shaun Benison strike clinched a 3-1 win at Hitchin last Saturday. Town go to St Albans City tomorrow.
