TROWBRIDGE secured their first Southern Counties South victory of the season in a highly-contested match which typified the spirit of a local derby.

They lost second row Mark Durrant to injury in the pre-match warm-up and fell behind when Frome full back Jake Frost kicked a penalty.

However a fine threequarter move finally paid off when winger Aaron Bray made a strong run and slipped the ball to Nicky Little who scored a try under the posts converted by Kyle Knight.

The remainder of the first half was played at a frantic pace with both sides unable to breach opposition defensives.

A yellow card just before half time hindered the home team’s progress when Lee McClurg was sent to the sin bin.

With 14 men for 10 minutes it was the home team who took control and a Knight penalty in front of the posts increased the lead.

Eventually Adam Sullivan, playing in the back row this season, forced his way over for an unconverted try after a good team attack was finally put together.

The Frome effort was not helped by a straight red card to one of their forwards.
