TROWBRIDGE Town's opening Hellenic League Division One West match against Hook Norton tomorrow has been postponed after the death of a member of Norton's squad.
Hellenic League officials agreed to Norton's request to call off the Woodmarsh fixture after teenager Jay Wills was killed in a car crash in Oxfordshire on Wednesday night.
A league statement said: "The club has tragically lost one of their young players, Jay Wills, who was killed in a car crash near Banbury late on Wednesday evening.
"Jay joined Hooky Football Club at U15s level and this season was on the cusp of breaking into the first team.
"Everyone at the club is deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic incident.
"In the circumstances Hook Norton FC have requested permission to postpone the scheduled first team game at Trowbridge Town on Saturday, August 13 as a mark of respect to Jay, his parents and brother.
"The Hellenic League has agreed to this request.''
Trowbridge will now kick off their campaign at Wiltshire rivals Malmesbury Victoria on Tuesday evening.
