TROWBRIDGE’S late-season rise up the table continued with another fine victory – star man Adeel Malik again taking centre stage against Rockhampton.

Malik hit 133 in his side’s total before becoming one of Michael Beard’s (2-58) two victims.

Earlier, opener and wicketkeeper Tom Weaver (51) had reached his half century and Luke Morris hit an unbeaten 36 late on in his side’s useful total.

They were made to sweat for victory though, as Beard scored 105 off 136 balls to anchor the home side’s run chase.

He and Matt Tyler put on 122 for the first wicket before Marcus Hogarth made the breakthrough.

Skipper William Tyler’s 35 continued the pursuit, but Malik, Dan Tallentire (2-53) and former captain Toby Dorgan (2-76) ensured wicket fell regularly.

Malik completed a fine all-round performance as he took the final three wickets for a personal haul of 5-61.
