WELL, I have certainly had a strange couple of weeks on the course.
Playing at the Players Club just north of here a couple of weeks ago rounds of 71, 66, 72 left me in 22nd position.
Then I was off to Southport for the next EuroPro tour event.
A cold putter in the first two rounds meant scores of 69 and 73 left me in 32nd position going into the last round.
This is where the fun starts.
Looking for a quick start to get myself up the leaderboard, a start of par, birdie, eagle birdie was ideal and I was four under par through four holes.
What I didn’t expect was to be on the sixth tee at one over par after taking nine down the fifth hole!
The round continued in this way as I had a total of seven birdies, one eagle but also three bogeys, a nine and an eight on the scorecard.
But I must take the positives from having made the most birdies in the entire tournament.
This week sees the final major of the year the USA PGA Championship.
The return of a certain Tiger Woods is grabbing the attention.
I am sure he will be trying to find out where his game stands after pretty much missing the entire season so far.
I think the thing that people forget with being a pro golfer is that you never really know how you are playing until you tee it up in a tournament.
Practice means nothing until you do it under the tournament pressure.
But I am sure the Europeans will be on strong form in Atlanta.
I would love to see Lee Westwood capture his first major, having been the best player in the world from tee to green over the last few years
