ZIMBABWE captain Terrence Duffin will fly back from the West Indies next month to lead Winsley's challenge in the Bristol and North Somerset league.

Winsley finished bottom of their division last season and were only saved from relegation by league restructuring. Duffin, who leads his belegaured country against Brian Lara's West Indians in the first of seven one-day internationals in Antigua today, will replace long-serving overseas player Kanal More, who has returned to his native Mumbai.

First team skipper Andy Ellett said he was excited to have an international star at Winsley for the 2006 season. He said: "For a small village club like ourselves to sign somebody of his calibre is great. I hope it will act as a motivating factor for everyone else at the club.

"Terrence should be back from the Caribbean in time for our second league game, which is against Twyford House on May 13." Ellett is confident his team can steer clear of relegation trouble this summer if he has a full compliment of players to chose from.

He said: "There was never a question about the effort and commitment of the players on the field. The problem was the availability of some first team players. "Hopefully, with the addition of a new overseas player, that won't be an issue for us this year."

Winsley will be without top-order bastman Pete Jenkins, who has moved to Derby following the completion of his degree. The squad have just returned from a pre-season tour of Alicante, in Spain, where they played two friendly matches.

"As a village club it's important to bring the players together pre-season. It was a very good team-building exercise," said Ellett.
