CHIPPENHAM cruised into the final of the the Bath Combination Cup with this overwhelming victory over their Wiltshire neighbours.
The result was never in doubt after Chippenham found themselves 14 points ahead after just five minutes. John Boddington opened Chippenham's account with their first try and after that, Devizes were completely overwhelmed.
At half-time Chippenham had a 39-3 lead, Devizes' only points coming from a penalty.
The second half saw more of the same. The only area of Chippenham's game which was woeful was the kicking. Had all their tries had been converted, the scoreboard operator would not have kept up.
Darren McMillan ran in five tries in his last game before undergoing knee surgery. Alex Fereday grabbed a hat-trick of tries and further contributions came from: Ben Shuker, his first try in four years, Gary Champion, David Spiers, Adie Price, Gary Squires, John Boddington (2), Pete Kirby and Pete Livesey. Andy Williamson added three conversions and Karl Brant one.
Chippenham will meet Frome or Stothert and Pitt in the final at The Rec, the home ground of Bath Rugby, on Thursday April 27.
Chippenham also took The Alf Dunster Cup, the traditional trophy at stake when Chippenham play Devizes.
