SWIMMING: MEMBERS of Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club collected a haul of medals at the Wiltshire County Age Group Championships, with many swimmers achieving medals in all four disciplines and several coming away with district and national qualifying times.
Five swimmers also smashed county records. Between them, 12-year-olds Jack Borthwick and Christopher Weston stole the backstroke records in their age group, with Jack taking the 200m and Chris the 50m and 100m records.
Sophie Purnell (11) also took the 200m backstroke record in the girls' competition and the Barnes sisters, Georgina (11) and Charlotte (14), broke the 200m breaststroke records in both their age groups, with Charlotte also achieving a new county time in the 50 breaststroke.
Head coach Paul Leather was extremely proud of all the swimmers. He said: "Their hard work and dedication has paid off and the club is doing really well. It is great to see swimmers of all ages competing so well and even our youngest swimmers are now achieving medal positions and qualifying times."
