CORSHAM have been made to wait 11 agonising days for the chance to reach their second cup final of a remarkable season.
Reds' manager Colin Bush confessed to having mixed emotions after Saturday's Les Phillips Cup semi-final against Hallen was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The game will now be played on Wednesday which will be 15 days after Corsham's last competitive fixture against Radstock Town on March 28.
The Reds held an in-house friendly against the club's youth team last night and Bush hopes to have a full strength squad for the trip to Somerset. He said: "It was frustrating not to play on Saturday but it could also work in our favour. It would have been a bit galling for me if we'd gone there and lost without our full compliment of players.
"On the other hand there is a danger that the break has been too long since our last match." The two sides shared a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season, but Corsham ran out convincing 5-0 winners in the reverse fixture at the Southbank in December.
But Melksham Town's shock win over Calne in the semi-final of the Wilts Senior Cup last week has reminded Bush that he cannot take anything for granted. He said: "We beat Hallen comfortably at home but we were in the middle of a real purple-patch back then. League positions do not matter in a game like this.
"The winner will be the team that settles best on the night. Hallen are a good side at home and they will try to unnerve us. But my players will be up for it." Bush knows that a win on Wednesday would put Corsham one step closer to achieving a fairytale double cup success, adding: "It would be superb if we could get another final in the bag.
"I've been to the final of this competition a couple of times with Chippenham Town and it's a good cup to win," he said.
