BADMINTON: THE Mid Wilts Badminton League season enters its last week with most of the divisions now completed or at least the winners are known.
Freshford have won the 3/3 title after beating leaders Phoenix 7-2 at home. Darren Jones and Theresa Farr won all their games and a good performance by the rest of the team saw them home despite a rearguard action from Kerry Matthews and Gareth Moorhouse who won the two games for Phoenix.
Earlier in the week Freshford played the other title contenders Chippenham 23 and saw them off with a devastating 9-0 win away.
Freshford win with 76 points and Phoenix are runners up with 72 points. Phoenix fared better last Friday when their men's team secured the men's Division Two title after meeting Stonar 6-3 at home and also maintain their unbeaten season, with eight wins out of eight.
Phoenix win the division with 62 points but the runners up spot is still undecided. In Mixed Division One Hardenhuish A finished their season with 10 straight wins finishing with a 8-1 win over runnersup Chippenham 23 A.
Bradford Penmoor were confirmed as the relegated club from Division One.
