CORSHAM Rugby Club celebrated a landmark victory on Sunday when the under 12s won the Wiltshire Cup at the County Championships in Wootton Bassett.
It was the first time in the club's history that a team have been crowned champions in a Wiltshire Cup competition, and comes in the same season that the club's junior section achieved the RFU Seal of Approval.
The 15-man squad produced a faultless display to win all six of their matches, scoring 24 tries and conceding none in the process.
Club chairman Neville Smith said he was delighted the club had finally been rewarded for their efforts with some Wiltshire silverware.
He said: "It's nice for the juniors to win this competition. They have worked hard along with all the coaches, parents and volunteers.
"This win shows that the club is making great strides in terms of developing players. We hope they will continue to improve and move on to play in the senior section."
The tournament was played as a round-robin and Corsham kicked off their challenge against neighbours and rivals Chippenham.
Corsham took advantage of a strong tail-wind in the first half and scored two early tries to record a comfortable 10-0 victory. A 25-0 drubbing of Devizes followed before Corsham thrashed hosts Wootton Bassett 20-0 in their third match of the afternoon.
The fourth match pitted Corsham against fellow unbeaten side Salisbury in an all-important encounter. Corsham's defence held firm against the elements in the first period and three second half tries saw them to a convincing 15-0 win.
Playing with increasing confidence, Corsham went on to clinch the championship with successive 25-0 victories over Cooper-Avon Tyres and Swindon. The victorious Corsham squad members were: Jack Beazer, Will Chivers, Sam Coombs, James Cryer, Sam Deane, Billy Gibbs, Adam Jamieson, Robert Llopis-McCormack, Hamish Millner, David Murdoch, Tim Norton, Alex Twigg, Jacob Unwin, Reuben Ward and Steven Watson.
