BRADFORD United and FC Northbridge will meet in the final of this season's Trowbridge League Chantry Digital-sponsored Knockout Cup.
The two teams will meet at Westbury United's ground on May 2. Northbridge needed extra time to defeat The Deverills 2-1 in their all-Division Two semi-final. This was their fourth meeting of the season, with Deverills yet to win.
Deverills made a strong start and took the lead after five minutes with a good shot from the edge of the box by Simon Reaney. Deverills should have increased their lead but Northbridge equalised with 20 minutes to go when James Starr cut in from the left and scored.
Starr hit the winner in the second period of extra-time. Bradford United, playing their second semi-final in two weeks, were successful this time, defeating Frome Town Sports 2-1 in an all- Division One clash at Gypsy Lane. Jake Davidson and John Baker scored, with the reply for Frome an own goal.
AFC Trowbridge Town Youth Reserves defeated Hilperton United 4-2 in the semi-final second leg of the Division Two Cup, sponsored by Taylor Kitchens and Bedrooms. Mark Burrell (2), Rick Monacute and Jamie Young were on target for the Trowbridge outfit, with Dave Thomas and Lee Ashman replying.
IN DIVISION ONE Freshford United now lead Bradford United and Blue Circle by three points after defeating Warminster Town Reserves 2-0. Stuart Arnold and Jared Smith scored the goals.
Fourth placed North Bradley Saints were again defeated by Broughton Gifford, this time by 4-3. Richard Clarke (penalty), Dan Kovacs (2) and Lee Hayward scored for Broughton, with the replies from Jack Heard, Wyatt and Lee Trainer. Saints have games in hand but cannot afford to drop any more points to stay in touch with the chasing pack.
Rudloe made one of their longer journeys, to bottom placed Heytesbury, and came away with a 5-0 win. After being 2-0 up at the break they extended their lead in the second period. The goals came from Luke Wolf (2), George Bentley (2) and Daniel Young.
IN DIVISION TWO the scoreline was all square at 1-1 at the interval in the game between Steeple Ashton and Westbury A, but Ashton turned it on in the second half to win 4-1. Their goals came from George Mortimer (2), Steve Lye and Ricky Madden, with Dale Roland hitting Westbury's consolation counter.
Bratton and The Lamb were all square at the break at 2-2 and 3-3 at the final whistle. Dave Jenkins, James Sweetman and Kerry Wilson were on target for the home team, with goals for the visitors coming from Sam Stevens (2) and Mark Williams.
IN DIVISION THREE Bradford Town Reserves extended their lead by a point as they gained a 1-0 home win over fourth placed Rowde Sports 1-0, thanks to a goal from Mark Robinson.
Hilperton United Reserves were 2-1 up at The Stiffs at the interval but were held 4-4 at the final whistle. Their goals came from Dan Martin (2), Steve Green and Paul Gough, with the counters for the home outfit coming from a hat-trick for Christian Player and one for Adrian Giles.
Four Seasons travelled to Culver Close and thumped Bradford United Reserves 5-2. It was all square 1-1 at the break but the midtable placed visitors forged ahead with four more strikes to secure the victory in the second half. Their goals came from Rob Smith (3), Brett Cullen and Ian Williamson. The two replies for the basement team were scored by Morgan Williamson and Darren Cox.
Midtable Semington Magpies beat second placed Trowbridge Wanderers, 3-2. The visitors led thanks to Dean Gumm after Magpies failed to clear a cross and Stephen Martin and Dan Rimmer both missed from close range before Richard Allum fired home the equaliser from 12 yards. Just before the break Dan Phillips made it 2-1 for the Magpies.
Magpies dominated the early stages of the second half, and Dan Rimmer, who had a hand in all of the Magpies goals, set up Josh Mills who had an easy tap in from three yards.
Wanderers had a man sent off midway through the half period. They pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left and started to push for the equaliser, but Semington held on for a well deserved victory.
Third placed Lavington defeated midtable FC Chippenham, with goals from Myles Hickton and Steve Howells.
