ANGLING: THE Super Cup tie between Airsprung and Pucklechurch was fished on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Avoncliff on Sunday and resulted in a tie.
Individual honours went to Dean Adams, of Airsprung, with a mixed catch of roach and skimmers weighing 4lb 15oz 8dm, taken on pole-fished punched bread.
Runner-up was Roger Green, of Airsprung, with a roach and skimmer catch weighing 3lb 15oz, taken on pole-fished punched bread. John Atkins, of Airsprung, was fourth with 2lb 8oz 8dm.
The final match in the Commercial House Winter League Series was fished on the Kennet and Avon Canal from Darlington to Diggers where Power Systems topped A Division with 28.5 points and Cooper-Avon Tyres topped B Division with 32.
Bathampton Avon Aquatics took the A Division championship with 33 points and Crown Road Electrical were B Division champions with 28.5.
Individual honours went to Graham Hunt, of Jaynes, with an all-skimmer catch weighing 11lb 8oz, taken alternating with pole-fished punched bread and bloodworm. Runner-up was Ray Cooper, of Dynamite Frys A, with a skimmer catch weighing 8lb 13oz, taken alternating with pole-fished punched bread and squats.
Trevor May, of Cooper-Avon Tyres, was third with a mixed bag weighing 5lb 14oz.
Final league tables: A Division: 1 Bathampton Avon Aquatics 33; 2 Bendix 28.5; 3 Super Seal 27. B Division: 1 Crown Road Electrical 28.5; 2 Cooper-Avon Tyres 23; 3 Dynamite Frys A 22.5.
Overall individual champion and knockout winner: Graham Hunt Jaynes.
Gary Etheridge, of Devizes, kept up his good form at Ivy House Fishery by winning Friday's open match with a catch of roach and skimmers weighing 6lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots. Runner-up John Lewis, of Friendly Fishermen, used similar tactics to take a mixed catch weighing 4lb 4oz. Graham Gooch was third with a small fish catch of 4lb 2oz.
Calne gained a convincing win over Wootton Bassett in an inter-club event at Hazeland on Sunday. Calne returned a team weight of 62lb 2oz to the visitors' 40lb 7oz.
There was a close finish in the individual weights. Pete Samuels, of Calne, won with a mixed catch of roach and bream weighing 13lb 9oz, taken on stick-floated red maggots. Dave Scoble, of Calne, was second with an all-chub catch weighing 12lb 14oz, taken on pole-fished white maggots. He was followed by Tim Carr, of Calne, with a mixed catch of bream and chub weighing 12lb 8oz, taken on legered bread flake. Other placings: 4 Steve Bell, Wootton Bassett, 8lb 7oz; 5 Gary Dodson, Calne, 7lb 8oz; 6 Kevin Strange, Wootton Bassett, 6lb 6oz.
The carp which usually make up the weights were conspicuous by their absence in the Lavington match at Merritts Lake on Sunday.
Graham Pearce, of Lavington, won with an all-roach catch weighing 14lb, taken on pole-fished red maggots. Don Keats, of Hilperton, was second with a mixed catch of roach and small carp weighing 10lb, taken on pole-fished red maggots. He was followed by Pete Craig, of Potterne, with a roach and carp catch weighing 7lb, taken alternating with pole and feeder fished red maggots.
