COLIN Bush had the last laugh on Saturday after his Corsham side silenced a vocal Bridgwater crowd at Fairfax Park.
Bush overheard the Bridgwater manager tell local radio his Reds' were in for a hiding in Somerset, comments which made Corsham even more determined to collect three away points.
Said Bush: "Their manager told the radio they were going to beat us. The crowd were aggressive as well but that's just how we like it.
"I thought Bridgwater were a little strong-armed at times but we kept our discipline well. All 11 players were fully focused and they gave me everything. It was a wonderful day for Corsham."
The Reds enjoyed plenty of early possession but Bridgwater always looked dangerous on the break.
Striker Ryan King thought he had given Bridgwater the lead with a lob over Craig Chaplin, but Ben Fitch rescued Corsham with a goalline clearance.
Russell Lodge was at full stretch minutes later to deny King as the hosts seized control. Lodge then proved his worth in an attacking position when the full back sent a free kick just wide and hit the cross bar with a thumping header.
The game's only goal came just after the hour when Jerad O'Pray glanced a deep cross to John Eldred and the winger stroked the ball home at the far post.
Scott Lye smashed a 30-yard effort against the post and both sides had penalty shouts turned down in the final 10 minutes as Corsham held on for the win.
The result leaves the Reds four points clear of rivals Bideford.
