DIVISION TWO

Calne Eagles 0 Bratton 2

BRATTON overcame Calne Eagles in a hard fought encounter.

Bratton took the lead after 20 minutes, when a cross from Ian Young was left by Eagles centre-back Gary Wootten, totally wrong-footing his keeper Kevin Windsor, who could only watch helplessly as the ball crossed the goal line.

In response, Calne showed some good attacking play, with both Bobby Randal and Stu Windsor forcing saves from Bratton keeper Luke Dalton.

In the second half, the game continued to be an attacking affair.

Calne thought they had equalised, when a long distance shot from Bobby Randal was diverted into the path of Stu Windsor, who coolly slotted his shot past Luke Dalton into the net.

Despite the absence of a flag, the referee decided to disallow the goal and award a free-kick for offside. Moments later, things appeared to be evened up when Dan Cox appeared to be bundled over in the Calne’s penalty area, but play was waved on.

However, Bratton put the result beyond doubt with 15 minutes to go, when Sam Tucker hit a powerful shot from distance though a crowded box, leaving Kevin Windsor no chance in Calne’s goal.
