Wiltshire County Cricket League Division 6: A badly depleted Cooper Avon CC 2nd travelled to Spye Park with a team comprising of no less than three father and son combinations hoping for a touch of family fortunes but ended up more blankety blank.
They won the toss and batted and after a painstaking 61 from stand in skipper Mark Jeffery, 28 from Jon Helps and a quickfire 11 from Dan Griffiths including 1 towering 6 they had reached 148-5 with ten overs left.
Then debutant Glen Young fell for a duck which meant Andy Butcher came to the wicket but was out lbw first ball, quickly followed by his son Bradley Butcher who also went first ball and the hat-trick was complete when Dan Humphreys was also out first ball.
Young Alex Hillier held up and end for a while and the score reached 156 when he was out also without scoring.
5 ducks all together which is a rare site on a Spye Park estate well known for shooting.
Cooper bowled well and at 90-5 the home side were struggling against some fine bowling from Rob Trudgian, Jon Helps and Glen Young.
However the introduction of Ian Jeffery to the attack meant the game reached a swift conclusion and the home side reached their target with only 5 wickets down.
