West Wiltshire Diving Club’s Sophie Cook achieved gold medal success at this year’s St Albans Dive In, repeating the success she achieved in the February at the Gavin Brown Love to Dive competition in Southampton.
There was a close finish to the group D (10/11yr) novice girls event with less than 4 points between the top 3 of the 29 girls competing.
Other successes included Lauren Pocock, Group C (12/13yrs) novice girls who won a silver at her first away meet whilst Finn Aubrey group C age group boys took bronze just ahead of team mate Oscar Lippiatt in 4th place.
The club’s youngest diver Ria Oliver, 7, attending her first ever competition narrowly missed the medals in the group E (7/8yrs) placed joint 4thout of 17; a great start to her diving career.
13 West Wiltshire divers were among the 230 competitors from 17 clubs from across the south of the country.
“The St Albans competition allows us to send a team including divers of all ages and levels to compete against a large range of clubs.
"There are even synchro events which the divers really enjoy.” said club secretary Paula Drew.
