Staverton motorcycle racer Jamie Wilkins continued his fantastic start to the ThundersportGB series last weekend when he notched up three wins at Pembrey in South Wales.

There was one hiccup in the first race of the weekend though, when his Aprilia Tuono Factory race bike dramatically ran out of fuel on the last lap while ten seconds in the lead of the Streetfighter A class.

"I couldn't believe it. There were just two corners to go and the win was in the bag," said Wilkins, 29.

"It was my own fault for cutting it too fine, and a stupid mistake.

I ran with the bike for ages to see if I could score a couple of points for crossing the line, but that's against the rules so I was out of the race and exhausted too.

"You can guess how much ribbing I got for the rest of the weekend, especially from the commentators!

"Needless to say I've now bought a proper measuring kit to make sure I never do it again.

"From them on I really wanted to make up for it, and I was really pleased to win the other three and keep my unbeaten record.

Congratulations to Andy Denyer on his first win of the year though.

"I'd also like to really thank my sponsors S&B Auto Academy and White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors for their support. There's no way I'd be racing without them."

All of the action from Pembrey can be seen on MotorsTV, Monday 25th May at 7pm.

The next round of the ThundersportGB series is at Oulton Park, 6th June.

“The points are close again now, so there can be no mistakes at Oulton,” said Wilkins, “only wins.”
