Athletics: Neolithic Marathon/Half and Cani Cross 13

Avon Valley was represented at the Neolithic Events by 6 of its members.

The Marathon which follows the Sarsen Trail, a 26-mile route across undulating Wiltshire countryside with stunning views across the Vale of Pewsey and the Avon Valley was won by C James in a time of 2:57:40 and the 1st Lady to complete the course was B Browne in 3:39:25.

The unique route links two of the UK's World Heritage sites - the ancient stone circle of Avebury and the world famous Stonehenge,

Kay Middleton, competing in her very first Marathon, had a fantastic run to finish the challenging course in 3:50:44, making her 3rd Lady!

Steve Richardson, also in his first Marathon, completed the course in 2:44:46, Denise Ellis was not far behind Steve and was delighted to complete the course in 4:49:08, surpassing her 5 hour expectation!

The Half Marathon follows the same route as the Sarsen Trail, from Charlton Clumps to Stonehenge, and was completed by 11th placed Darren Wrintmore 1:34:58 and 49th Steve Halligan 1:49:31

AVR had one representative in the Cani Cross 13, Mel Nicholls and Canine friend were 14th in a time of 1:52:34
