Cricket: Wiltshire continued their outstanding form especially with the bat when they equalled their record score of the previous Sunday in beating Berkshire by 84 runs in their second group match in the MCCA Trophy.
After this round of matches in the group Wiltshire are the only team to have won both of their matches.
James Hibberd on winning the toss had no hesitation in batting on the fast scoring Henley ground but Wiltshire soon lost both openers, Joe Breet and Tom Morton with the score at 10.
There then followed two match winning partnerships, first between Wes Durston (133 off 121 balls) and Greg Lamb (78 off 84 balls) who put on 140 for the 3rd wicket and then Durston and James Hayward (74 off 59 balls) with 125 for the 4th wicket.
Richard Bedbrook (20) helped Durston to put on 49 for the 5th wicket and the innings closed at 334 for 6 wickets. For Berkshire Tom Lambert took 2 for 65, Richard Logan 2 for 53 and Danny Briggs 2 for 65.
Berkshire needed to score at over 6 runs an over and started aggressively but Alex Senneck was soon into his stride and produced another fine bowling performance to take 4 for 35 off his 10 overs and with Greg Lamb taking 4 for 59, Berkshire were all out for 250 in the 47th over, with one wicket each for Richard Bedbrook and Steve Warner.
For Berkshire Bjorn Mordt (50) and James Morris (50) scored half centuries.
Wiltshire’s next match is against Devon who won the Trophy in 2008 at Trowbridge on Sunday May 17th starting at 11.00am.
The other four teams in the group are playing next weekend with Wiltshire having the day off.
