DIVISION 8
Winsley 3 v Wanborough 2
Winsley’s new third eleven started life with a bang against Wanborough 2 at the Victory Field, Bradford. On a low, slow pitch their 243 for seven was built around a patient 74 by David Gibson, with Dan Thorne cracking a rapid 37 not out in the closing overs.
Denzil Novais (four for 37) mixed pace and spin and was the pick of the visitors’ bowlers.
In reply, the Wanborough batsmen had no answer to Winsley’s opening attack of Sean Brown and Josh Lewis, subsiding to 25 for six after 18 overs. They recovered to 81 all out, with opener Tim Mannion carrying his bat for 31.
In a fine all-round team performance all six Winsley bowlers took wickets.
