Somerset Stages Rally 25th April 2009 Wiltshire rally crews competed in the third round of the national BTRDA rally championship held in Somerset on Saturday, starting from Butlins Minehead.
ASWMC 2008 rally champion Clive Anstey and Pam Hilton from Melksham driving their Vauxhall Corsa developed a misfire in the morning but soldered on to finish 8th in class and 55th over all.
The rally was held up for a while with a car off down a revine the airmed was called for the crew had back inchuries this stage was cancelled.
The Landrover crews had a mixed rally Dr Simon Dowdswell and Kieron Bhargaua in a Freelander from Lyenham finished a creditable 9th in class and 44th o/a with 97 finishers puts that in perspective also Keith Thomas and Nathan Eyers from Calne had a good run finishing 50th.
Tings were not so good for Andy Drummond/Jon Chester and Rob Harford/Rob Boughton from Chippenham who retired on stages 6 and 7. Steve Wells hit a tree but escaped unhurt.
The rally was won by Will Nicholls and Nick Broom in a Subaru WRC from Isle of White.
