Melksham Town picked up the Corsham Print Senior Cup with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Bradford Town in an entertaining final played at Corsham’s Southbank Ground.

Delighted manager Tim Spear said : “ It was the fourth time lucky for the club who had appeared in the final the previous three seasons without getting their hands on the trophy.” He added : “ We have got a young side and they deserved their bit of glory, they have been superb all season. We have a chance to lift the Premier league title as well, it would appear to be between us and the New College.”

Melksham got off to a great start with a first minute goal from Gareth Evans but despite a strong tail wind failed to add to their tally before the break.

It was Bradford’s turn to go onto the attack at the start of the second half and they gained a deserved equaliser from Russell Francis midway through the second half.

Shortly after they handed back the advantage to Melksham when they found themselves down to ten men after Steve Roddy was shown a red card.

Back in the game Melksham took the lead with a good header from Matt Sharpe and from a quick break Frankie Coleman made sure of victory in the closing stages.

Meanwhile, New College remain top of the Premier division following their 2-1 victory at Trowbridge.

The home side then pulled a goal back with a clever free kick around the College defensive wall to spark a late rally by the home side who went close on several occasions but failed to pierce the College defence.

Devizes Town gained a welcome three points with a 4-1 victory over Corsham Town, Tom Slater 2, Simon Drewitt and Declan Elliott on target for the home side who always held the edge over the visitors.

Shrewton United and FC Chippenham Youth shared the points in a six goal thriller, Luke Holborough, Tom Jones and Mark Nolan giving Chippenham a 3-1 lead at half time, Andy Hiscocks netting for United.
