Trowbridge pool sensation Daniel Winfield says he had the time of his life after excelling while representing his country.
The 14-year-old, who attends the John of Gaunt School, was part of England’s victorious Under 16 squad for the recent EBA World Masters event in Bridlington.
Despite being one of the youngest players in the team he spearheaded their charge towards the semi-finals of the doubles tournament and racked up an impressive ten wins in the 14 frames played.
“I put in a lot of practice before the tournament on a table at home,” he said.
“I was nervous before but after I few games I was feeling really confident and playing well.
“The England team manager said I did really and just told me to keep it up.
“I was really excited afterwards and couldn’t wait to tell everyone. My friends were all really happy and said they were proud of me.”
Winfield also represents Wiltshire Under 18s and the John Bull pub in their league.
Despite not being old enough to drink, his performances are already leaving others gasping in amazement.
“It’s my first season for them and it’s not quite as challenging as playing for England,” he joked.
“Everyone who plays me says I’m really good and tells my dad that I have a lot of talent. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved so far and hopefully one day I can turn pro.”
