New College moved to within a couple of points of leaders Calne Town following their 2-1 home victory over visitors Bradford Town.

Earlier in the week they had picked maximum points with a 2-0 win over title chasing Melksham Town under lights at Hunts Copse.

In a scrappy affair against Bradford the College took the lead midway through the first half with a scrambled effort from Levi Cox,Bradford’s Joe Chettleburgh cancelling out the advantage a couple of minutes before the break.

The second half continued in the same vein with the winning goal coming from Louis Chatwin who pounced on a loose ball following a corner.

Calne Town were made to struggle for their 2-1 victory at Westbury and had keeper Lawrence Smith to thank for making some good stops in the closing stages.

Earlier the home side had taken an interval lead with Tom Boakes equalising for the leaders soon after the restart.

Simon Gardner then put Calne in front with a good strike then things began to fall apart for the visitors.

The game was then held up following a bad ankle injury to Calne’s Jordan Roberts, while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

When the game restarted the leaders found themselves down to ten men having already used both subs and were soon forced on the back foot as United pushed forward looking to level the scores. However some good saves from their keeper and resolute defending enabled them to hang on for three valuable points.

Marlborough Town and Bromham shared the points in a 1-1 draw the home side equalising in the last five minutes through Carl Mabberley after being camped in the Bromham half for most of the second period.

Earlier Declan Harrison had given Bromham a first half lead.

Bromham boss Ben Howe said : “ That’s the second successive game we have had to battle for a result, the lads showed plenty of spirit.”

Trowbridge Town stretched their unbeaten run to three games following their 3-0 away win at Corsham.

Two first half goals from Steve Hulbert and two after the interval from Jamie Jordan did the damage and delighted manager Chris Carr who added : “ A few more performances like that and we will be out of the relegation zone.”

Melksham Town found it far from easy against bottom club Westside on a difficult playing surface but managed to come away with the points when a home defender put through his own goal for the only score of the game.

James Wheeler and Tony Hurcott gave Pewsey Vale a 2-1 lead over Shrewton United but the visitors kept plugging away and scored a last minute equaliser.

Wroughton gained a 4-0 success over visitors FCChippenham Youth but hardly deserved their two goal lead at the break after a fairly even first half.

However they had the edge after the interval and added two more to their tally.

Jamie Harris and Billy Sly scoring two goals apiece.

The match between Purton and Devizes Town was postponed.
