Melksham Town boss Wayne Thorne took pride in his side's performance in the Monday night defeat to Frome Town and hopes they can repeat it against Chard on Saturday.
His side went 1-0 up only for defensive errors allowed their visitors back into it. Even after two players were sent off in the second half, they continued to create chances and could have equalised late on but for a crucial miss by Adam Young.
“We've acquitted ourselves well against one of the best teams in the league,” said Thorne.
“You look at their budget and their players compared to the resources we have here and I'm very proud of my lads.
“The result wasn't positive but if we keep producing that sort of performance we won't have any problems here.
“In the league standings we are twelfth or thirteenth but we've got Chard on Saturday and if we win there we go sixth or seventh - that's how tight it is.
“It's not panic stations at the moment. All we've got to do is concentrate on producing that sort of performance week in week out.”
Defender Greg Tindle will return to action having served a two-game suspension.
“Chard are scrapping for points down the bottom,” said Thorne.
“They need points to get our of relegation so it's going to be any even tougher one.
“We're down on a little bit of momentum as well and it's going to be a tough, tough game, but I am positive.”
